Second hand hearing aids

We are passionate about making the very best hearing aids (care and accessories) available to as many people as we can.  As affordably as possible.  Whilst focussing on sustainability and the future of our planet.  Alongside our Won’t be Beaten on Price Guarantee (for new aids), our extensive range of second-hand hearing aids perfectly fits our mission.    Our price guarantee helps us work towards making affordable hearing aids accessible.  However, the second-hand hearing aids section really takes this to another level.  Whilst making sure we keep our focus on the environmental impact.  All of our second-hand hearing aids are fully refurbished and sanitised.

Range of second-hand hearing aids

Our range of second-hand hearing aids changes all the time.  We generally have all the major brands available.  Recent examples of our second-hand hearing aid stock are:

Phonak rechargeable Belong(B) 90  second-hand hearing aids. All private hearing aids come in different levels of technology. In the case of Phonak hearing aids, the levels are classified as 30, 50,70, 90. In ascending order so these 90’s are the top level of technology. These aids, although older are very affordable.  Just £549.00 for a pair. Around 15% of the original RRP. They are fully working with a one year warranty. Why choose a second-hand hearing aid?

Every Second-hand hearing aid from Affordable Hearing is:

  • One year warranty

Second-hand hearing aids improving sustainability through Circular Economy

Affordable Hearing are committed to ‘doing more good’ rather than just ‘doing less harm’. Our commitment to supplying second-hand hearing aids contributes massively towards this aim. By extending the useful life of second-hand hearing aids. Preventing them from being wasted in land-fill. Stopping them from being thrown away, we are able to minimise the need for resources and energy expenditure to replace them. Often a second-hand hearing aid can be more suited to a person’s needs than a completely brand new one. There’s a place for both. Affordable Hearing Co-Founder Zoe has been trying and reviewing both second-hand hearing aids and new ones recently. You can see them all on our Youtube Channel and Facebook Pages.

Earn money from your second-hand hearing aids!

Why not part-exchange your current hearing aids against a purchase of new ones? We offer £400 per pair of part-exchanged hearing aids off the price of new hearing aids (purchased from Affordable Hearing). Or £200 per aid if you only exchange and buy one. Some of the aids will be refurbished for others here in the UK. Just like when you part-exchange a car towards a new one. However, many of the hearing aids which we take in part-exchange (to help towards the cost of new ones) will be repurposed and redistributed free of charge. Either in our ‘Emergency Aids‘ or ‘Aids as Aid’ programmes. We support Hearing Charities in many countries. We are committed to our endeavours to ‘Help Others Hear’.

Donate a second-hand hearing aid?

No longer need your or a loved ones hearing aids. Don’t want to just throw them away but don’t know what to do with them? We also gratefully receive donations of any hearing aids that you or a loved one may no longer need. In line with our Sustainability Principles we will always do our best to refurbish and repurpose any hearing aids we receive to help others. Either from redistribution or re-use of materials and components. As a very last resort we will make sure they are recycled responsibly. Ensuring that as many of the materials re-enter the manufacturing chain as possible. To donate your or a loved ones hearing aid please get in touch with us HERE or you can post them direct to us at:

If you are posting us any hearing aids, please do include your contact details so we can let you know when they arrive safely – Thank you!

Second-hand hearing aids as ‘Emergency Aids’

Second-hand hearing aids as ‘Emergency Aids’ is our programme to make sure that a ‘good enough’ hearing aid can be made available at short notice, free of charge. Just the hearing test (if an up to date registered audiogram is unavailable) and programming need to be paid for. Meaning if someone loses or breaks their hearing aid they can get a replacement, almost immediately, at very low cost whilst waiting for an NHS appointment.

Second-hand hearing Aids for ‘Aids as Aid’

Second-hand hearing ‘Aids as Aid’ is our overseas initiative for people who don’t have access to an NHS hearing aids equivalent. We repurpose and distribute, free of charge, on a charitable basis.  Approximately 25 Second-hand hearing aids for every second-hand hearing aid we make available to purchase. We are incredibly proud of both of these initiatives and very grateful to anyone who helps us achieve our goal of making hearing aids available to as many people as possible.  Through part-exchanging or donating their hearing aids.

Where do second-hand hearing ‘Aids as Aid’ go?

So far in 2024 we have distributed nearly 10,000 Second-hand Hearing ‘Aids as Aid’. To people of all ages in Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Fletcher Chisalipo (pictured) works tirelessly in Malawi to carry out ear health screenings, audiograms and Second-hand hearing aids fittings. We’ll be uploading more about him and his amazing work on our Facebook and Youtube soon.

Worried about the cost of second-hand hearing aids – why not rent them?

Co-founder of Affordable Hearing Zoe has worn hearing aids since she was 17. She understands what a huge impact access to premium hearing technology can make.  As part of our determination to make Second-hand hearing Aids as affordable as possible, we also offer a ‘Second-hand hearing aids’ rental service.  It’s a very ‘Ronseal’ operation and pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin (yes, we know we’re showing our age but….  couldn’t resist it!). On certain of our Second-hand Hearing Aids it is possible to pay a small deposit and rent them on a monthly basis. We will be updating the website on which models qualify shortly. However, in the meantime we’d love to tell you more about our Second-hand hearing aid rental service in all the usual ways:
